Joint Security Forces Kill 3 Suspected Armed Robbers Following a Gun Battle in Grand Gedeh

Zwedru Grand Gedeh – Liberia At least three suspected armed robbers have been killed and two severely injured after a gun battle with Joint Security Forces in Grand Gedeh County.

Grand Gedeh County Attorney, Isaac Williams, told our Correspondent that the incident occurred Saturday night at a checkpoint, about 20 kilometers away from Zwedru City.

Attorney Williams said the bodies of the victims are deposited in the morgue of the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital while the injured are taking medical treatment.

Our Correspondent said residents in Grand Gedeh County are expressing fear for their lives following the incident.

But residents have been assured of security protection and safety by the Joint Security Forces in Grand Gedeh County.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesman, Moses Carter, has confirmed the killing of three suspected armed robbers in Grand Gedeh County.

Mr. Carter told ELBC that the suspected armed robbers were allegedly en-route to attack the Ruby Light Company in the County.

Before the incident, Mr. Carter said the Joint Security Forces had received an intelligence of the planned robbery at the logging Company.

According to him, since the killing of a German National, Jürgen Schedenann, a special Anti-Robbery Unit was setup in each County to counter armed robbery attacks.

At the same time, Moses Carter said the suspects will be investigated, charged and forwarded to court for prosecution.
