Liberia’s Ambassador to Senegal Reportedly Dies in Tunisia, Following Severe Illness

MONROVIA, LIBERIAReport reaching ELBC says Liberia’s Ambassador to Senegal, Mary-Ann Fossung, is dead.

Ambassador Fossung reportedly died on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Carthagene Hospital in Tunisia after a period of illness.

The late Liberian Ambassador Plenipotentiary accredited to Senegal also had oversight for Liberia’s Foreign Missions in the Gambia and Cape Verde, respectively.

Ambassador Fossung’s service at Liberia’s Foreign Mission in Senegal began in 2008 when she served as 1st Secretary until she was later promoted to the position of Ambassador Plenipotentiary in 2019.

Meanwhile, President George Weah has extended condolences to the family of the late Liberian Ambassador to Senegal, Mary-Ann Fossung.

President Weah, on behalf of Government, expressed sympathy to the Fossung Family, Liberia’s Foreign Service, especially the Mission in Senegal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all affected by the loss.

The Liberian Leader in a social media post described the late Ambassador Fossung as one of Liberia’s devoted emissaries.

President Weah said Ambassador Fossung was a dedicated diplomat who worked diligently to promote Liberia’s Foreign Policy, deepen bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the governments and peoples of Senegal and Liberia.

President noted that the late Liberian Ambassador role in Senegal saw a heightened period of cooperation between the two governments and further created several opportunities for the benefit of the respective countries.
