LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA – About 200 farmers from Tusu and other surrounding Towns in the Wologizi Forest Reserved areas in Lofa County are meeting to redirect their focus on farming practice to protect their forest reserved.

The farmers are part of a second phase of a Fuana and Flora International Farmers Field Program, taken place in Lofa County, have vowed not to carry out farming activities at the Wologizi Forest reserved forest but want to find alternative means of livelihood.

According to ELBC Upper Lofa County Correspondent, the Wologizi farmers were drawn from several communities as part of the Agriculture Transformation Component of the Wologizi REDD PLUS Project.

Farmers at the three days ongoing gathering are said to be exchanging ideas and challenges as well as being trained on how to cultivate more land to enable them stop farming in the   reserved forest.
