Liberia’s Governance Commission to Shortly Assess Some Public Institutions…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Governance Commission says it would shortly begin to assess the functions of some public institutions and recommend to the relevant authorities possible dissolutions where necessary.

The Commission said some public institutions are performing similar functions and creating additional pressure on the national budget and grossly undermining effective public service delivery.

The Commissioner for National Integrity Systems at the Governance Commission, Matthew Kollie, disclosed that the reforms in Liberia’s Public Sector will curb gross usurpation of functions among government institutions.

Commissioner Kollie said:” The proposed reforms are intended to eliminate overlapping responsibilities, reduce unnecessary public expenditure, and ensure that government institutions operate more efficiently”.

The recommendations, if implemented, could help streamline public administration and improve the overall performance of government institutions.
