MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senator of Montserrado County, Darius Dillon, has introduced a bill seeking to amend the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation Act.
The proposed bill is titled:” Act to Amend the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation Act to extend retirement age and promote voluntary and prohibit mandatory retirement”.
In his communication to the Liberian Senate on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Senator Dillon argued that the existing retirement framework should be revisited to protect employees from being forced out of employment for attaining the age of sixty or sixty-five.
He added that reaching a particular age should not automatically end an individual’s working career, especially when the employee remains physically capable and productive.
If passed into law, the amendment would require NASSCORP and the Ministry of Labor to review applicable regulations and establish mechanisms to guide employers and employees through the new retirement framework.
