Air Senegal Considers Launching Flight to Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Air Senegal Chief Executive Officer, Tidiane Ndiaye, says the airline is considering launching flight operations to Liberia in the first or second quarter of 2027 to improve air connectivity between Dakar and Monrovia.

Air Senegal is Senegal’s national airline operating from its main hub at Blaise Diagne International Airport near Dakar.

Ndiaye disclosed this during a meeting with Liberia Civil Aviation Authority Director General, Julius Dennis, at the airline’s headquarters in Dakar recently.

He said, “Arrangements are underway to introduce the service, which could connect Dakar to Monrovia through Conakry, Guinea, and Freetown, Sierra Leone, subject to the completion of operational and regulatory requirements.

The proposed route is expected to provide additional travel options for passengers moving between Liberia and other West African countries.

Ndiaye also disclosed that Air Senegal was considering direct flights from North America to Dakar, with onward connections to destinations across West Africa.

Meanwhile, the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) Director General, Julius Dennis, thanked his Senegalese counterpart for arranging and facilitating the meeting on short notice.

The LCAA described the arrangement as an example of cooperation and African solidarity, highlighting the importance of collaboration between aviation regulators in advancing regional connectivity.

Cooperation between the civil aviation authorities is important to ensure proposed airline operations meet applicable regulatory requirements and that the necessary arrangements are completed before services begin.

He said, “The proposed Air Senegal service will, therefore, depend not only on the airline’s commercial preparations, but also on the completion of relevant operational and regulatory processes”.

Julius Dennis said the introduction of Air Senegal services to Monrovia could give Liberia another connection to Dakar and improve access to regional travel networks.
