Pres. Boakai Attends 81st UN General Assembly in New York

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is in the United States to attend the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

According to a dispatch, President Boakai departed Liberia on Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, to begin a series of high-level engagements in the U.S.

Ahead of the Assembly, the President is scheduled to stop in Washington, D.C., for a lineup of congressional engagements with a number of key congressional figures to enhance US-Liberia relations.

President Boakai and delegation will then move to New York for the UN engagements, which will feature his address to the General Assembly, where he will participate in other key events.

At the close of the Assembly, the President will return to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Liberia Annual Diaspora Conference to be held in Alexandra, Virginia.

President Boakai is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the event that will bring together Liberians around the world.

At the same time, the Liberian Chief Executive will pay a special visit to the Liberian Maritime Registry in Dulles, Virginia, the United States.

President Boakai’s delegation, according to the dispatch, comprises Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah and Health Minister Louis Kpoto.

Others are Education Minister Jarso Jallah, Gender Minister Gbeme Horrace-Kollie, and National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods.

While the President is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Samuel Stevequoah, will act as Chair of the Cabinet in consultation with the Vice President and will remain in close contact with the President, among others.
