Liberia’s Local Gov’t Ministry Ends 4th Edition of “Unity Cultural Festival”

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Local Government has ended the Fourth Edition of its “Unity Cultural Festival” across Liberia.

Phase One of the initiative is taking place among all tribes and regions of Lofa County, with the Mandingos being the latest group.

Speaking during the “Mandigo Cultural Festival” in Paynesville over the weekend, the Minister of Local Government, Francis Nyumalin, said it is the wish of President Joseph Boakai to see the entire country united.

Minister Nyumalin boasted that the President has already succeeded in reconciling the citizens of Foya District in Lofa County, describing the program as a great beginning.

He noted that when Lofa County, the home of the President, is fully united, it will now set the stage for an extension of the program to other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the local government minister also added that the Liberian Leader has added great value to diaspora Liberians in the reconciliation process.

For her part, Deputy Local Government Minister for Urban Affairs, Fatima Sirleaf, stated that the cultural Festival is not unique to Mandigo but to every Liberian.

Minister Sirleaf explained that the move is a great step in the government’s efforts to create cohesion among the country’s citizens.

She named road connectivity, free education for elementary students, and healthcare, among others, as some achievements of the government within less than three years.

The Deputy Local Government Minister urged Liberians, both at home and abroad, to continue supporting the government and its development plans.
