President Joseph Boakai has approved a fifty-million-dollar petroleum storage expansion project submitted by the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company.
Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah said the project includes the construction of a fifty-thousand metric-ton tank farm to strengthen Liberia’s fuel storage and distribution capacity.
He said the expansion will reduce dependence on private fuel reserves and allow the LPRC to import strategic fuel supplies directly.
Minister Piah also noted the initiative is expected to improve fuel availability, stabilize prices, and increase revenue through import levies and taxes.
He believes the project will strengthen national energy security while supporting Liberia’s growing economy.
