MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has reiterated his strong commitment to protecting Liberia’s natural resources for the benefit of the Liberian people.
President Boakai believes that the move is critical to the equitable distribution and economic growth of Liberia.
The President said,” As a nation, Liberia remains endowed with abundant natural resources, but citizens continue to live in abject poverty”.
According to the Liberian Leader, it is a hard time for the government to take ownership of these resources and utilize them in the interest of the country.
President Joseph Boakai was speaking at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Monrovia.
He urged the Ministry of Mines and Energy to take proactive steps to safeguard Liberia’s minerals for future generations.
At the same time, the government says it has diplomatically taken the lead on the border conflict between Liberia and Guinea.
Earlier this month, there has been rising tension between the two countries over a border dispute involving a town in Lofa County.
President Boakai reported to the body that the situation remains under control and the conflict zone remains peaceful.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the promotion of peace, security, and good governance.
President Joseph Boakai urged citizens to exercise the highest standards of patriotism and avoid acts that undermine the progress of the country.
