Liberia Broadcasting System Director of News Resigns

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director of News of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Varflay Kamara, has resigned.

Kamara resigned on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Speaking to his colleagues after tendering in his resignation, Kamara described his journey from serving as a reporter to becoming News Director as incredible.

Kamara thanked the Management of the LBS for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure.

He encouraged journalists at the institution to remain committed to professionalism, accuracy, and service to the Liberian people.

In remarks, members of the News Department bid farewell to their Director of News, describing Varflay as a dedicated media professional whose leadership strengthened the Newsroom and upheld the values of credible and responsible journalism.

The staff recounted memorable moments and expressed gratitude for Kamara’s guidance and commitment to public broadcasting.

Members of the newsroom praised him for mentoring young journalists and promoting teamwork within the department, noting that his contributions to news production and editorial leadership will leave a lasting impact on the institution.
