MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has signed a twenty-megawatt hydro-power plant agreement to improve energy in Nimba County.
The agreement was signed with HYDRONEO, a France-based independent power producer, specialized in small to medium-scale hydro-power development across West and Central Africa.
The agreement was signed at the Liberia-EU Business Forum in Brussels, Belgium, aiming at the development, financing, construction, and operation of the plant.
According to a dispatch, the over fifty-five million US Dollar project represents a transformative step towards strengthening Liberia’s national power grid and expanding access to clean energy.
The initiative is expected to increase Liberia’s energy generation capacity, promote sustainable economic growth, and create over one thousand jobs during construction.
HYDRONEO technical delegation is expected to arrive in Liberia within six weeks to commence concrete engagements and initiate detailed feasibility and on-site.
