MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Housing Authority (NHA) has advanced plans to construct six hundred affordable housing units in six of Liberia’s fifteen counties.
The targeted counties include Nimba, Lofa, Bong, Grand Bassa, Bomi and Montserrado.
The Director General of the NHA, Florence Geebae, said,” The project was initially proposed during the National Budget process, but did not receive funding”.
She noted that the project is expected to benefit more than two thousand households and create about three thousand indirect jobs.
According to the NHA boss, the housing development will include access to roads, water systems, electricity, and sanitation facilities, with the government responsible for key infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Madam Florence Geebae has disclosed that the African Development Bank has provided one hundred fifty thousand US dollars for diagnostic research of Liberia’s housing sector.
