GRAND GEDEH COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia and Welt Hunger Hilfe (WHH) have signed a Handover Certificate for the Grand Gedeh Referral Hospital in Zwedru.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Kpoto, signed on behalf of the government, while WHH Country Representative, Hubert Charles, signed on behalf of his organization.
At the signing ceremony on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Minister Kpoto said,” The construction of the hospital aligns with the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
Health Minister Dr. Kpoto added that the hospital will not only cater to the health needs of residents of Grand Gedeh, but also to the entire Southeast.
For his part, Hubert Charles thanked the Government, through the Ministry of Health, for the coordination in the completion of the project.
At the same time, Vice President Jeremiah Koung has donated fifty pieces of solar lights to the people of Zleh City, in Grand Gedeh County.
The donation followed an appeal from Zleh City Mayor, Philip Gneneyan, during a town hall meeting with the Vice President.
According to the Vice President, the lights will be planted on the main streets of the city, and also in strategic neighborhoods to allow students study at night.
He promised to liaise with the Ministry of Public Works to ensure a modern City Hall and the surrounding areas in Grand Gedeh County.
Meanwhile, Vice President Koung has assured the government’s commitment to rehabilitating farm-to-market roads in the county.
He disclosed that the county is poised to receive a share of the two hundred eighty-five pieces of yellow machines to make community roads accessible.
On behalf of President Joseph Boakai, the Liberian Vice President thanked the people of the county for voting for the Unity Party to power.
VP Koung, speaking at the commissioning of the Grand Gedeh County Referral Hospital on Thursday, January 22, 2026, said,” I will write both GSM companies in the county to construct towers at the hospital facilities”.
Vice President Jeremiah Koung then thanked the health workers of the county for their diligence in the daily discharge of their duties.
