MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has promised to create an enabling environment for Liberian businesses to thrive.
President Boakai said,” This will boost the economy and encourage Liberians to take ownership of national development”.
The Liberian Leader made the statement on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the official opening of the Up Town Motor Garage’s new showroom, a leading automobile company in Paynesville City.
President Boakai hailed the proprietor of the company for being innovative, adding that such investment will continue to be supported by the Government of Liberia.
The Liberian Chief Executive also encouraged citizens in the Public and Private Sectors to prioritize and invest in the development of local businesses.
In another development, President Boakai is reviewing a draft autonomous bill of the National Road Fund of Liberia.
The bill was developed by the Road Fund Management, with consultations from the Board and international partners.
The Chief Program Officer of the National Road Fund, Albert Samukai, told ELBC’s “Super Morning Show” on Wednesday, January, 14,2026, that the bill seeks to accrue more benefits for road maintenance across the country.
Samukai said,” Granting the NRF autonomy will transition it from a first-generation fund, enabling the entity to engage in initiatives that will promote road infrastructure across Liberia”.
According to him, the projection of two hundred million USD for road maintenance in the country is above the current revenue-generating capacity of the entity.
