MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian National Police (LNP) on Tuesday charged and forwarded STAND Chairman, Mulbah Morlu, to the Monrovia City Court on multiple charges.
Police have charged them with the crimes of criminal conspiracy, criminal solicitation, riot, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of highways and other public passages, for sitting and congregating in the main street,s thus destroying properties as well.
Police charge sheet revealed that the complainant, Nasser Mohamed, OIC of the Financial Intelligence Unit, stated to the police that on December 17, that staffs on board one of their vehicles sustained cuts, as a result of vandalism carried out on them by the STAND protest
Nasser explained that it was believed that when the police ordered the protestors of the civil society group STAND to leave the streets, they escaped the shelling of tear gas and ran into the nearby communities.
He narrated that during the process, three of the FIA employees were targeted by protestors who forcibly removed their mobile phones and personal belongings, including numerous checks belonging to the agency.
Nasser further narrated that these actions have not only compromised the safety of the employees, but also pose serious security implications for sensitive information that the protestors have made away with.
According to the complainant, among those things taken away by the protestors were checks meant to pay employees’ salaries for the month of December 2025.
Meanwhile. Morlu has bailed out by his lawyers.
