MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the National Port Authority (NPA), has revealed the admission of Liberia into the EU-funded 12 million SCOPE Africa Port Security program.
The program, according to the NPA, marks a major milestone in the country’s maritime reform and security agenda.
Through the NPA, Liberia has secured a position as a group of elite ports in West and Central Africa to participate in a flagship regional initiative focused on port safety, security, governance, and operational resilience.
The program, which was launched in Lome, Togo, is being implemented by Expertise France and Enable, covering ten ports across nine countries.
The release described Liberia’s selection as a reflection of the NPA’s active role within the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa, and its growing credibility within the regional maritime community.
It also noted that the milestone development reinforces the National Port Authority’s commitment to international best practices, enhanced port security standards, and deeper strategic cooperation with global partners.
