Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Denies Reports of Assault against Special Agent Myron Swen…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has denied recent media reports alleging that its Officer-In-Charge assaulted his Special Aide, Special Agent Myron Swen, during an official assignment.

The LDEA has described the information as false, misleading, and completely unfounded, saying; at no time did OIC Fitzgerald Biago inflict harm, issue threats, or engage in any form of assault against any officer.

The Agency believes that the officer in question is being tele-guided with the sole intent of undermining the significant gains the LDEA continues to make in the fight against illicit drugs in Liberia.

A release is quoted as saying the Agency sees the allegation to be part of a deliberate effort to tarnish the reputation of its leadership and discredit its work.

Meanwhile, in keeping with the principles of transparency and accountability, the OIC has instructed the Board of Internal Inquiry to immediately conduct a full, impartial, and independent investigation into the matter.
