MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Police (LNP) has condemned acts of violence that erupted during a protest held by STAND, describing the incidents as a threat to public safety and democratic order.
According to a release, the violence endangered lives and property and undermined efforts to ensure a safe environment for all.
In response to the incidents, the LNP has identified three persons of interest in an ongoing investigation.
They are the Chairman of STAND, Mulbah Morlu, Alvin Wesseh of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), and Archie Pompom, who police say are being sought as part of a professional and evidence-based inquiry into the violence.
The LNP has requested that the named individuals report to the Central Headquarters of the LNP in Monrovia to assist with the investigation.
The LNP has warned that failure to comply with this lawful request will result in their arrest, in line with due process and the Liberian laws.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has assured the public that the matter is being handled with restraint and respect for human rights.
