MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia and partners have signed a Joint Resolution banning street selling by children across the country.
According to the government, the resolution is part of coordinated efforts to tackle the prevailing challenges confronting children involved with street selling.
The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Gbeme Horrace-Kollie, said,” The instrument rightly positions the Justice Ministry to increase surveillance, investigate and prosecute efforts targeting violations that undermine child protection reforms”.
According to Minister Kollie, the protection of the next generation requires the collective responsibility of all Liberians.
The signing of the Resolution brought together the Ministries of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Justice, Labour, the Liberia National Police (LNP), Monrovia and Paynesville City Corporations, and UNICEF, among others.
