MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, and Margibi University have signed separate memoranda of understanding with Tuskegee University to strengthen higher education, research, and capacity building in Liberia.
The signing ceremony was held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Ministry of Education in Congo Town.
The agreements aim to expand academic programs, advance agricultural innovation, support faculty development, and open pathways for student training, scholarships, and community outreach.
Speaking at the program, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah said,” The MoUs will elevate teaching, research, and knowledge generation across institutions”.
She noted the collaboration will foster new academic offerings, provide training for faculty, and launch joint projects in agriculture and STEM.
Dr. Jallah added that the partnership will strengthen laboratories, improve grant readiness, and expand opportunities for Liberian students through internships and scholarships.
She stressed the signing marks the beginning of a practical collaboration that will produce better-prepared graduates and more resilient universities.
In a related development, Metropolitan Archbishop Dr. Jerry Jones has hailed the signing of three MOUs between Tuskegee University and Liberian institutions.
Dr. Jones said,” The agreements revive ties dating back over a century”.
He noted the partnership will bring student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and stronger academic programs.
According to him, the signing is a step toward better universities and greater opportunities for Liberians.
He added that the collaboration reflects Liberia’s long relationship with Tuskegee and will help prepare citizens to meet future challenges through education and innovation.
Meanwhile, the President of Tuskegee University, Dr. Mark Brown, has reaffirmed the institution’s historic ties with Liberia, describing the new agreements as a step toward deeper academic cooperation.
He emphasized Tuskegee’s mission to educate students who return home to serve their countries, noting that the partnership will unlock opportunities in science, engineering, agriculture, and education.
Dr. Brown said,” Tuskegee values curiosity and innovation, and the collaboration will empower Liberian students to explore new possibilities while strengthening local universities”.
He expressed gratitude for the signing and said he looks forward to hosting a similar gathering at Tuskegee University in Alabama.
Highlighting the leadership of Liberia’s Education Minister, Dr. Jarso Jallah, Dr. Brown said Tuskegee hopes to replicate such visionary commitment to education through its partnerships across Africa.
