MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia and the United States have signed a 124 million USD Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Liberia’s Health Sector.
The MoU will focus on strengthening disease surveillance, outbreak response capacity, and the frontline health workforce in Liberia.
According to data, Liberia is the third country in Africa to sign such a bilateral agreement after Kenya and Rwanda.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, signed on behalf of Liberia, while the U.S. State Department’s Under Secretary, Jeremy Lewin, signed for his country in Washington, DC.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, Lewin said,” The MoU is a symbol of deepening bilateral relations between the U.S and Liberia”.
For her part, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti expressed Liberia’s gratitude to the U.S for the partnership.
