GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Eugene Fahngon, is calling on the Ministry of Finance and the National Legislature to increase the entity’s budget for Fiscal Year 2026.
According to Direct Fahngon, the current allocation is insufficient to meet the growing demands of the National Broadcaster.
He said,” An increment will not enhance the institution’s technical capacity, but also support several ongoing initiatives aimed at expanding media access in remote parts of the country”.
The LBS Director General disclosed that the institution has already embarked upon a series of modernisation efforts, including upgrading transmission equipment, installing new regional relays, and improving content production standards.
He, however, noted that these initiatives require sustained financial backing to be fully realised.
The LBS Director General also stressed that strengthening the National Broadcaster is essential for promoting transparency, civil engagement, and national unity.
