MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Over one hundred suspected drug traffickers and dealers are in jail awaiting prosecution in Monrovia.
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Officer-In-Charge (OIC), Fitzgerald Biago, disclosed that the suspected traffickers and dealers were arrested in September and October 2025.
The OIC said,” They were investigated and are currently pre-trial detainees, awaiting prosecution and subsequent sentencing”.
OIC Biago said the LDEA, during the arrest and confiscation of drugs, impounded six vehicles at different locations across the country.
The LDEA Boss also said two houses, one in Brewerville, Montserrado County, and Duazon, Lower Margibi County, where a huge quantity of narcotics was found, have been seized.
Meanwhile, the LDEA Officer-In-Charge says the entity is not only arresting suspected drug traffickers and dealers, but has intensified its preventive measures across Liberia.
He said that owing to such efforts, the issue of widespread drug activities throughout the country has drastically reduced, while appreciating the collective efforts of citizens.
Biago indicated that the LDEA is working out plans to institutionalize its fight against drugs by collaborating with several organizations, including community dwellers.
Speaking at the MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Monrovia, the LDEA Boss stated that the entity has embarked on renovating some of the notorious drug sites into LDEA service centers, among other initiatives.
