MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian journalists have been challenged to go beyond disseminating information to exercising due diligence through fact-checking.
ECOWAS Ambassador to Liberia, Josephine Nkrumah, called on Liberian journalists to use their profession to combat the spread of fake news, disinformation, and misinformation.
At the close of a two-day training on Information Integrity, the ECOWAS Ambassador said,” It is no more about news scarcity, but the extra effort to fact-check every information from newsmakers”.
Madam Josephine Nkrumah reminded journalists of the magnitude of their work, stressing that journalists’ inability to double-check their stories could create a gullible society.
On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, ECOWAS, with support from GIZ Organizational Program, implemented by the Media Foundation for West Africa, ended a two-day training for about thirty Liberian journalists in Monrovia.
The training sharpened the skills of the journalists to combat the spread of fake news, disinformation, misinformation, and anti-democratic narratives in West Africa.
