MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Montserrado County Representative, Saah Foko, says technical vocational qualifications are essential in addressing Liberia’s young unemployment challenges.
Representative Foko said that once the youthful population of Liberia has various technical skills, it will bridge the gap between education and employment opportunities.
The Montserrado County Lawmaker said that is why he will be pushing for an increase in the draft national budget allotment for technical vocational institutions
Representative Foko disclosed that said allotment will go towards the improvement of technical vocational institutions to be of acceptable standards.
He spoke on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Sinkor at a one-day Legislative Constituency Engagement by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy has ended a one-day Legislative Constituency Engagement in District Nine, Montserrado County, to facilitate a dialogue between citizens and their lawmaker.
The engagement was to discuss issues on participation, inclusion, and transparency to promote civic legislative constituency.
It is under the Electoral Support Project Plus in a consortium with UNDP, UN Women, and the Netherlands for Multiparty Democracy, with funding from the EU and the Embassy of Ireland and Sweden.
Speaking at the opening of the engagement, the Netherlands for Multiparty Democracy Country Director, Oscar Bloh, focuses on youth political participation.
Cllr. Bloh, is it intended for the young people to ask the leaders some critical questions, and how the issues affecting them can be addressed?
