26th Session of UN Tourism Org. Ministerial Meeting Ongoing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the 26th Session of the United Nations Tourism Organization is taking place in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Liberia is represented at the meeting by the Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Jerolinmek Piah, and the Presidential Special Envoy on Tourism, Ambassador Christopher Hayes-Onanuga.

According to a release, Minister Piah presented Liberia’s tourism development strategy as enshrined within the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).

The information minister also called for inter-country and continental collaboration and support to improve sustainable tourism in Africa.

Tourism Ministers from Africa agreed to foster stronger coordination and unity of purpose among Member States to ensure that the continent’s priorities are effectively articulated and championed within the global tourism framework.

A release from MICAT is quoted as saying the High-level Ministerial Meeting was presided over by the Chairperson of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa, Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba.
