MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia and the State of Qatar are aligning their respective national strategies with global development frameworks to strengthen humanitarian coordination and promote peace and resilience across the Sahel.
Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, met at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha.
During the meeting, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti highlighted the crisis in Mali and other broader peacebuilding strategies that reinforce Liberia’s role as a voice of stability and partnership in West Africa.
According to her, Liberia’s presence at the Summit reaffirmed its commitment to regional diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and inclusive dialogue.
A Foreign Ministry release said Minister Beysolow-Nyanti’s engagement with Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs signals a new chapter in Liberia’s foreign policy, one that blends principled leadership with proactive regional collaboration.
The Summit brought together foreign ministers from five West African nations and senior African Union (AU) officials to address the escalating humanitarian and security challenges in the Sahel region.
High-level participants at the meeting include Burkina Faso, Niger, The Gabia, Mali, and the AU Commission for Mali and the Sahel.
