MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has congratulated the President-elect of Ireland, Cathrine Connolly, on her resounding election.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Joseph Boakai stated that Madam Connolly’s overwhelming victory reflects the trust, confidence, and admiration the Irish people have in her vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication to advancing equality, inclusion, and progress for all.
President Boakai assured Madam Connolly of Liberia’s readiness to work closely with Ireland in fostering global peace, mutual respect, and sustainable development.
He added that Liberia’s upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council is firmly anchored in the commitment to champion the empowerment of women, children, and marginalized populations.
The President indicated that Madam Connolly’s lifelong work in promoting women’s rights, empowerment, and diversity provides a natural rallying point for greater collaboration between the two nations in advancing these shared values on the global stage.
President Joseph Boakai also paid tribute to the outgoing President, Michael Higgins, a formidable global statesman whose principled leadership has guided Ireland with grace and wisdom.
