Labor Minister Ends Aggrieved Workers’ One Day Protest at Liberia Telecommunications Corp.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Labor Cooper Kruah has ended a day-long protest by aggrieved workers of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LIBTELCO) at a conflict resolution meeting with both the Senior Management Team and the leadership of the LIBTELCO Workers Union.

The protest followed the alleged refusal of the Management of the Company to meet their demands, including prompt payment of salaries, transition of contract workers to full employment, regular exchanges of information, and lack of medical insurance, among others.

In a release from the Labor Ministry on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Minister Kruah acknowledged that the Head of LIBTELCO, Richardson Ndorbor, recently briefed him about the drastic reduction in the customer level of the corporation, thus reducing income generation with dire financial implications for workers and overall operations.

Minister Kruah further informed the workers of intensive ongoing efforts by the Management, through collective initiatives to prevail on the Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Ngafuan.

The move is to intervene in recovering over four hundred thousand US Dollars owed by various entities of the Government of Liberia to the Corporation, to cover urgent operational costs, including salaries.

Meanwhile, the Labor Minister has urged the workers to exercise patience in the national interest and call off the strike action, return to work, and allow the Management to conclude these arrangements.

Minister Kruah then challenged the LIBTELCO top management team to ensure that the demands of the workers are addressed.

In response, LIBTELCO Workers Union President, Adolphus Dopoh, commended the Labor Minister for his timely intervention and announced the immediate end to their industrial action, promising to use constructive engagement in resolving future grievances.

Meanwhile, LIBTELCO Chief Executive Officer, Richardson Ndorbor, promised to immediately commence the redress of the workers’ key demands.
