Ministry of Health Confirms Substantial Surge in Seasonal Influenza across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health has confirmed a significant increase in Seasonal Influenza (flu) across Liberia.

Seasonal flu is an infection of the respiratory tract caused by the Influenza virus.

In a statement released on Monday, October 20, 2025, in Monrovia, the Ministry of Health outlined the common symptoms accompanying this wave of the flu, which include fever, cough, runny nose, and general fatigue.

Health officials report that Montserrado County is currently the epicenter of the outbreak, recording the highest number.

The Ministry revealed that children, elderly persons, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses are at risk of contracting the flu.

Meanwhile, the Ministry og Health says it is enhancing surveillance in health facilities, creating public awareness, and collaborating with the Ministry of Education to strengthen health measures in schools.

The Ministry of Health is also urging citizens to seek medical attention, wash their hands with soap and water, disinfect frequently, and stay home when sick to prevent transmission.
