Over Six Staff Members of Labor Ministry Get Certificated…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-About six staff members of the Ministry of Labour have received certificates, following the end of a capacity-building training organized by the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

The training focused on Monitoring, Project Management, and Public Financial Management.

Speaking at the occasion on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Monrovia, India’s Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma, promised his government’s commitment to boost Liberia’s technical and manpower sector.

Ambassador Verma said,” Investing in citizens is the best thing any country can do through initiatives like the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program”.

The Indian Envoy added that India provides seventeen slots every year under the ITEC program and admonished workers at the Ministry of Labour to take advantage of the program.

He said,” The relationship between India and Liberia is built on strong foundations of mutual respect, shared democratic values, and a common vision for development”.

Ambassador Verma noted that in recent months, Liberia and India’s bilateral cooperation has reached new heights, leading to a fifty-four percent growth in trade, which occurred at least four million US Dollars between 2024 and 2025.

He said for the past years, India has also shared its developmental experience with over one hundred sixty countries on the African continent, Asis, and beyond, including Liberia, through the ITEC program.

The Indian Envoy’s statement is contained in his keynote address delivered recently at the closing ceremony of a six-week capacity-building program for senior officials of the Ministry of Labour.

Remarking, the Minister of Labour, Cllr. Cooper Kruah expressed delight over the achievements of his staff and challenged them to apply the skills acquired to enhance productivity.

Minister Kruah stressed that applying their skills will lead to the achievement of the set transformative goals of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

The Labour Ministry boss charged the graduates to focus on their jobs, and disclosed that the Ministry will continue to build the capacity of its employees to promote efficiency and productivity.

At the same time, Minister Kruah used the opportunity to advocate for volunteer workers of the Ministry to be included under the Ministry’s pay structure at the Civil Service Agency (CSA).

Meanwhile, the Director General of the CSA, Josiah Joekai, and the Deputy Director General of Administration at LIPA, Michael Wah, commended the Ministry of Labour for the initiative to train its staff.

They both revealed that such training is are key requirement in meeting the goals of the Performance Management Compliance System (PMCS).
