MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared Thursday, October 9, as “World Postal Day”, to be observed throughout the country as a working holiday.
The Proclamation calls on ministries and agencies of the Government of Liberia, as well as national and international organizations concerned, to cooperate with the Post and Telecommunications Ministry in executing appropriate programs befitting the day.
A foreign Ministry release says this year’s celebration will take place under the theme:” Post for People: Local Service, Global Reach”.
The Proclamation says the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications will join member countries of the Universal Postal Union to observe this year’s World Postal Day.
The Proclamation aligns with the Universal Postal Union, founded in 1874 for the purpose of establishing a single postal territory for countries to facilitate the reciprocal exchange of letters and postal items.
At the same time, President Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s unwavering commitment to protecting Liberia’s youth.
The Liberian Leader described the country’s youthful population as a critical pillar for national development.
President Boakai made the statement on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, when he officially handed over a fleet of vehicles to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
During the handover ceremony in Monrovia, the President said,” The vehicles are crucial for enhancing the operational capacity of the LDEA”.
He emphasized that a more mobile and equipped drug enforcement agency is essential for ensuring the safety and security of all Liberian citizens.
The Liberian Chief Executive also expressed grave concern over the threat that drug abuse poses to the potential of young Liberians.
