EU Amb. Deprez Recognizes Partnership, Shared Values, Marine Conservation between Liberia and EU

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-EU Ambassador to Liberia, Nona Deprez, has acknowledged the partnership, shared values, and marine conservation between Liberia and the EU.

Ambassador Deprez said,” These shared values bring African nations together in the blue economy and in safeguarding the oceans”.

She disclosed that the EU’s target for 2030 is a 55% net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 1990 levels, as mandated by the EU Climate Law and the European Green Deal.

Ambassador Deprez recognized Liberia’s important role as Chair of the International Maritime Organization Marine Environment Protection Committee, and its critical role as alternate Permanent Representative.

Ambassador Deprez made the assertions during the opening ceremony of the 8th Association of African Maritime (AAAM) Conference in Congo Town.

Meanwhile, she noted that the EU seeks to support Liberia’s climate ambition through financing mechanisms like green bonds and blue bonds, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with financial development institutions.
