Foreign minister Beysolow-Nyanti Re-emphasizes Call for Global Unity…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has re-echoed the call for global unity among Liberians abroad, outlining a new data-driven strategy to harness their skills and investments for national development.

Speaking at the Liberia Diaspora Annual Conference in Washington D.C., the United States, Minister Nyanti highlighted the growing trend of isolationism and contrasted it with President Boakai’s vision of inclusivity and unity.

The Liberian Foreign Minister emphasized that the government’s vision extends beyond the well-established Liberian Community in the U.S.

While praising the love shown through informal contributions like medical missions and scholarships, Minister Nyanti disclosed a strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco to create a comprehensive diaspora database.

According to her, the database will allow Liberian embassies to track the locations, professions, and contributions of their citizens abroad.

She explained that the data will be shared across key ministries, including health, education, and commerce, to strategically align diaspora expertise with national needs.

At the same time, Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has called for a reformed global approach to refugees and migration, emphasizing shared responsibility and economic diplomacy as key solutions.

She made the statement recently, while participating in a high-level panel discussion on the “Global Refugee and Asylum System: What Went Wrong and How to Fix It”, during the 80th UN General Assembly.

Speaking from Liberia’s own experience with the civil conflict and displacement, Minister Nyanti underscored the need to balance national sovereignty with international cooperation.

She highlighted that African nations, which host a significant portion of the world’s displaced people, understand the reality of intercontinental displacement firsthand.

Her recommendations include a clearer distinction between those seeking asylum from prosecution and those migrating for economic reasons.

Minister Nyanti advocated for stronger frameworks for labor mobility and solutions grounded in solidarity, humanitarian obligation, and the creation of economic opportunity.

The panel, hosted by the U.S Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, featured diverse perspectives from global leaders, including the President of Kosovo and representatives from Bangladesh and Venezuela.
