Nat’l Disaster Management Agency Ends Joint Inter-Sectorial Coordination Meeting…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has ended a joint inter-sectoral coordination meeting with responding parties of the MIRA Gas Company’s Oxygen Tank Explosion.

The meeting held on Thursday, September 18,2025, was meant to discuss the issues of coordinating health, security, infrastructure, communication, logistics, humanitarian aid, and other needs to ensure a unified and efficient response to the recent oxygen tank explosion at the company.

The gathering brought together Executives of the NDMA, Representatives from the Liberia National Police, Liberia National Fire Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Health, and Montserrado County District Thirteen Representative, Edward Flomo, among others.

Recently, the MIRA Gas Company was affected by an Oxygen Tank Explosion, which resulted in the death of one person and severely injured several others, and they are at various health facilities in Monrovia.

At the end of the meeting, responding actors agreed to several issues, including conducting further inspection of the MIRA Gas Company’s facility, and recommending additional safety measures to keep the location under quarantine until the end of a conclusive investigation, among others.
