MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia has hailed the launch of a new one-million-dollar project to strengthen women’s leadership and promote gender-responsive governance in Liberia.
The program, which runs until 2027, is titled “Women Legislators in Liberia Promoting Voice, Leadership, and Gender-Responsive Governance for Sustainable Development”.
During the official launch held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently, the Organization Chairperson, Ellen Attoh Wreh, described the initiative as a groundbreaking milestone for women’s empowerment and inclusive development in the country.
The project is funded through the India-Brazil-South Africa Fund and will be implemented by UN Women-Liberia, in partnership with the Women’s Legislative Caucus.
Other key components include internships for young women at the National Legislature, in collaboration with national institutions such as the National Elections Commission of Liberia, and Law Reform Commission, and learning exchanges with India, Brazil, and South Africa.
Representative Attoh Wreh reaffirmed the Caucus’s commitment to making the project a success, noting that it will amplify women’s voices in governance and help build a more democratic and prosperous Liberia.
