MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Koon, has stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and global cooperation in tackling pressing challenges at the 2025 National Legislative Forum for Friendly Exchanges held in Beijing, China.
Speaker Koon highlighted global issues such as climate change, terrorism, cyber threats, poverty, and human rights violations, calling on lawmakers worldwide to collaborate in promoting peace, security, and stability.
The Speaker also commended China’s contributions to Africa and Liberia, citing investments in education, agriculture, infrastructure, and trade.
He pointed to the annexes built at the National Legislature and the recent groundbreaking of Liberia’s first overhead bridge as tangible examples of China’s support.
Meanwhile, Speaker Koon reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the One-China Policy and urged global legislators to deepen parliamentary exchanges to advance peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
