MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia is proactively engaging member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to foster dialogue on peace and security between the AES Countries and Mano River Union member states.
Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti emphasized the critical tie between peace, security, and sustainable development.
She said,” Liberia remains committed to a non-political, community-driven approach to negotiations and dialogue”.
Minister Nyanti also expressed President Joseph Boakai’s unflinching dedication to fostering peaceful engagement among sovereign nations, evidenced by several ongoing ministerial-level engagements.
The Dean of the Liberian Cabinet disclosed on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, during a meeting with the European Union Special Representative for the Sahel, João Cravinho, at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia.
During the gathering, Minister Nyanti thanked the European Union for its consistent and credible partnership in promoting peace across West Africa.
Meanwhile, EU Special Representative for the Sahel, João Cravinho, called for a strong demonstration of commitment to the rules-based international order.
Ambassador Cravinho also underscored the importance of constructive engagement to reinforce multilateralism.
The EU Diplomat congratulated Liberia on its recent election to the United Nations Security Council and highlighted the country’s growing role in shaping global governance as a new UNSC member.
He said,” Liberia’s leadership and diplomatic outreach will be instrumental in advancing peace and stability across the region”.
Ambassador Cravinho is in Liberia for high-level meetings aimed at discussing regional peace and security, multilateralism, and exploring ways of deepening EU-Liberia cooperation.
