MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A delegation of twelve Liberian health professionals is in China participating in a Regional Healthcare and Medical Standardization Seminar for English-speaking African Countries.
A Ministry of Health release said the seminar offers Liberia a unique platform to engage with experts across Africa and China in strengthening healthcare delivery and setting medical standards.
According to the release, the seminar, which is expected to draw representatives from across Africa alongside their Chinese counterparts, is scheduled from September 10–23, 2025, in the Southwestern Chinese City of Chengdu.
The Liberia delegation comprises senior managers from the Ministry of Health (MOH), officials of the National Food Authority, County Health Officers of Gbarpolu, Bomi, Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, and Rivercess Counties, as well as the Medical Director of F.J. Grant Hospital in Sinoe County.
While in Chengdu, the release further stated that participants will engage in lectures, technical exchanges, and collaborative discussions on medical standardization.
The program will also include field visits to hospitals, companies, and factories in Beijing and Shanghai for practical experience and knowledge sharing.
The event is organized by the Chengdu Institute of Standardization, with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, further cementing Beijing’s longstanding partnership with Liberia’s Health Sector.
The release quotes Health Minister, Dr. Louise Kpoto, as lauding the initiative and extended appreciation to the Chinese Government for their unwavering support to Liberia.
“China has stood with Liberia in critical moments, whether through the donation of medical supplies, the deployment of experts, or capacity-building opportunities for our professionals,” Dr. Kpoto noted.
“We see this training as another milestone in deepening cooperation and enhancing our capacity to serve the Liberian people, “she added.
