MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Political Centrism Movement of Liberia has called for immediate and constructive dialogue and negotiations between the University of Liberia (UL) Administration and the UL Faculty Association.
The Centrism Movement expressed deep concern over the ongoing impasse at the UL, where the planned commencement of classes this September has been disrupted by the go-slow action by the Faculty Association in response to funding shortages.
The Movement believes that only through genuine engagement, mutual respect, and a spirit of compromise can the present impasse be resolved in the best interest of the nation.
Speaking on the matter, the Chairperson of the Centrism Movement, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala urged all parties to remain calm and act with maturity.
Cllr. Gbala said,” The Movement recognizes the UL as the country’s flagship institution of higher learning, and acknowledges the far-reaching implications of the disruptions on thousands of students, their families, and the broader Liberian society.
At the same time, the Movement appeals directly to the student community to remain calm, law-abiding, and non-violent as the matter is being addressed.
