MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria and Chairman of ECOWS Permanent Committee, Julius Sandy, has paid a courtesy visit to the Liberian Embassy in Abuja.
The Sierra Leonean Envoy stressed the need to deepen bilateral ties between Liberia and Sierra Leone, while strengthening the Mano River Union solidarity.
Ambassador Sandy, whose country currently chairs ECOWAS, calls for a stronger partnership among member states to tackle pressing regional issues.
He emphasized unity in addressing challenges such as insecurity, terrorism, and economic instability, while also advancing peace, democracy, and regional integration.
The Sierra Leonean diplomat praised Liberia for its consistent support of ECOWAS and stressed optimism that West African states can collectively enhance trade, stability, and the overall welfare of their people.
He also pledged Sierra Leone’s continued commitment to closer ties with Liberia.
Meanwhile, Liberia’s Charge d’Affaires in Abuja, Ambassador Robert Lormia, described the visit as a reflection of the historic and cultural bond between the two nations.
He reaffirmed Liberia’s full support to Sierra Leone during its ECOWAS Chairmanship, noting that the success of Sierra Leone would benefit the entire Mano River Union.
Both envoys concluded by stressing the need to strengthen the MRU framework to foster economic integration, security, and social development.
They reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to regional solidarity and African unity and to overcoming shared challenges for peace and prosperity.
