MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the University of Liberia (UL) have signed a Standard Letter of Agreement (SLA) to advance innovation, technology, and strategic development in Liberia.
The landmark collaboration will introduce a Master’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence (AI), designed to equip students with cutting-edge digital skills at the UL.
According to a release, the partnership will establish an innovation center at UL’s Fendall Campus, extending on the successful UNIPOD initiative to create a vibrant hub for creativity and technological advancement.
As part of the initiative, the release said the 2025 Holiday Tech Camp will be launched to inspire and empower the next generation of tech leaders.
It further stated that a five-year strategic plan and a comprehensive capacity enhancement assessment will be developed to strengthen UL’s faculty and student body in research, policy analysis, and innovation.
The President of the UL, Dr. Layli Maparyan, expressed gratitude to UNDP for the collaboration, describing it as a new chapter for innovation and engagement at the UL.
UNDP Resident Representative Aliou Dia emphasized the significance of partnership and expressed confidence that the initiative will make a significant impact not only for the UL but the country as a whole.
