MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Finance, has reaffirmed strict enforcement of the Decent Work Act of 2015, which sets the minimum wage at 150.00 US Dollars.
According to the government, no employee on its central payroll makes less than 150.00 US Dollars in gross, contrary to some media reports.
Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan told a news conference in Monrovia on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, that the government does not intend to make public individual employee salaries to justify its adherence to the Decent Work Act.
Minister Ngafuan said,” The goal is to ensure that the least amount a civil servant makes is 200 US dollars”.
The finance minister, however, clarified that those who make 150.00 US Dollars gross are the ones experiencing a drop in their net salary after deduction.
At the same time, Minister Ngafuan said,” The Liberian Government is working to ease constraints to long-term economic growth that will be achieved through constant efforts”.
According to him, the government’s major priorities are to tackle the barriers to growth and create jobs through investment in infrastructure and energy.
The finance minister highlighted the ongoing road developments that are helping to ease travel and commerce across the country.
According to a dispatch, Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan spoke recently when the Ministry of Finance dedicated five buses to ease the transportation challenges of employees.
