MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Labor on Wednesday launched Regulation No. 19 on Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace.
The launch of the Occupational Health and Safety regulation is aimed at ensuring that employees in the former and informer sectors are provided a conducive working environment that would safeguard jobs.
Speaking during the launch of the program, Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah said,” Chapter 29.3 of the Decent Work Act of 2025 mandates the Ministry of Labor to ensure safe, healthy, and decent working conditions for all workers across the Country”.
The Labor Minister emphasized that the regulation serves several important purposes, including laying out clear standards for occupational health and safety, ensuring that employers and employees understand their roles and responsibilities.
Also speaking at the program, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency, Josiah Joekai, lauded the Ministry of Labor for the initiative taken to launch the Occupational, Health, and Safety Division, which is the responsibility of every government entity to provide safety for the employees.
Speaking on behalf of Vice President Jeremiah Koung, the Chief of Staff, Prince Gbieu, urged stakeholders, including workers and employers within the Labor Sector, to work collaboratively and to ensure that health and safety measures are applied at various entities.
Chief of Staff Gbieu further appreciated the Ministry of Labor and other facilitators for initiating Regulation No. 19, which intends to provide health and safety for Liberians.
