CHINA-The Coordinator of the Liberian Students Union in China’s Hunan Province has highlighted various areas the Liberian Government can leverage to put the country on par with its counterparts across the globe.
Edwina Kolleh named security, education, tourism, and infrastructure development as crucial areas for possible urgent improvement.
Coordinator Kolleh said,” These sectors are not only vital to the growth of the country, but are also critical to elevating the living standards of the citizens”.
Madam Kolleh, a PhD candidate, also wants the government to pay keen attention to the promotion of the preservation of the country’s cultural values and norms, ensuring that the sector becomes a part of the governance process.
She also placed emphasis on the construction of more roads to boost trade and enhance mobility among citizens across the country.
Meanwhile, the former President of the Liberian Students in Hunan Province, Varney Johnson, is urging the Liberian government to further invest more in its Education Sector, especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Johnson said,” The provision of modern research equipment, coupled with the construction of conducive educational facilities across the country, will further improve Liberia’s Education Sector.
The Liberian PhD Candidate, in an ELBC interview, recently highlighted the visitation of the Academic Curriculum to include areas of research activities to broaden the minds of students in the country.
He also stressed the need for the Civil Service Agency (CSA) to be revamped, ensuring that jobs are given to citizens based on qualification, not on personal interest.
Varney Johnson noted that such a move will put Liberia on par with countries like China, the U.S, and Japan, saying that the interests of Liberians should be put at the forefront at all times.
