Liberia Broadcasting System Declares Temporary Suspension of MICAT Press Briefing

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Management of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has announced a temporary suspension of its live broadcast of the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Regular Press Briefing.

The LBS Management attributed its decision to limit funding to a situation that has left it with no alternative but to take the austerity measure.

According to the LBS Management, the suspension will remain enforced while the System tries to find a solution, including discussions with the Ministry of Information.

The LBS Management expresses regret over having to reach such stringent measures, entertaining the hope that the situation will be resolved soon.

The LBS has been carrying out live screening and airing of the MICAT Regular Press Briefings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, using radio, television, and social media.

Meanwhile, the Management of LBS says it will continue providing reportorial coverage to the Ministry of Information.

At the same time, the Liberia Broadcasting System says its business office is open to anyone who wants to advertise, address press conferences, air special features, and screen live events.
