MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Defense Minister Geraldine George-Johnson says practical solutions are urgently needed to alleviate challenges facing regional and world security.
Minister Johnson said,” Key challenges facing national and international security and stability can adequately be addressed through a cohesive partnership by regional and international security actors.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the start of a three-day United States Africa Command West Africa Logistics Conference at the Farmington Hotel in Lower Margibi County, she said,” The gathering underscored world leaders’ collective commitment in strengthening regional security and optimizing logistical capabilities of national armed forces.
The defence minister noted that addressing security challenges, logistics remain the backbone of effective military operations.
Défense Minister Johnson paid tribute to the United States Africa Command for its sustained commitment and support to Africa’s security architectures.
She said,” I am confident that the outcome of the conference will significantly advance the sub-regional shared security.
Meanwhile, the Charge d’Affaires at the United States Embassy, Joseph Zadrozny, described the conference as a critical milestone in the U.S and partners’ shared commitment to fostering regional stability and economic growth across West Africa.
Zadrozny committed the U.S. government’s unwavering support for the initiative, which he said aligns closely with the current American government’s objectives of strengthening security partnerships with African nations through regional coordination.
He said, “By building stronger regional networks of like-minded nations committed to peace and stability, the world will be in the best position to counter security threats and ensure that the region is secured and prosperous”.
Military leaders from twenty African nations, ECOWAS, the African Union, and executives of U.S.-based factories are attending the three-day United States Africa Command West Africa Logistics Conference jointly hosted by AFRICOM and Liberia.
