Gov. of Liberia Says No Increase in Fees for Life-Saving Surgeries, Other Essential Services at J.F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has clarified that there has been no increase in fees for life-saving surgeries and other essential services at the John F. Kennedy Hospital, contrary to reports currently circulating in the media.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, by Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, during the MICAT Regular Press Briefing in Monrovia.

Minister Sando said,” The memo is a proposal from service providers and remains under review, but it has not received approval from the hospital’s administration or Board”.

He named the availability of essential medications, upgraded laboratory, surgical services, and infrastructure improvements, among others, as some key achievements at the JFK Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Information Minister also said JFK has not refused to treat emergency patients for lack of payment, calling on every citizen not to believe in such misinformation.
