MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairman of the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce, Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin has formally complained Hot Pepper Newspaper Managing Editor, Philibert Brown, over threats on his life and the lives of his immediate family.
In a letter dated July 31, 2025, addressed to Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, Cllr. Martin said,” Brown, in a Facebook post, cautioned him to consider the risk of death threats on his life from the most powerful, influential, and wealthier people during his anti-corruption fight”.
In an interview on ELBC “Super Morning Show”, the Head of Communications at AREPRT, Joseph Daniels, said,” The Taskforce does not take lightly threats directed at any of its members”.
Daniels said, though Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, as Chairman of the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce, is not deterred; the Police must ensure Philibert Brown is called on for investigation.
According to him, more indictments are expected to be released soon, while denying reports that the Taskforce has paused ongoing investigations into corruption cases.
